CAN YOU PLEASE HELP US MAKE THESE DOGS TRAVEL?

CAN YOU PLEASE HELP US MAKE THESE DOGS TRAVEL?

Oh No, not another fundraiser I hear you say! Well, Yes! and please read on.

We need you, to commit to helping ‘our’ doggies to get a forever home! And if you are a member of this Facebook group they are ‘OUR’ dogs, otherwise why be here?

It is without any doubt much easier to find them a forever home when they are in the U.K.. FACT!  However, it is not just any home we are looking for, it is that very special place that these abused doggies can call home.

Once our dogs have arrived in the UK they can be assessed by experienced families who will give the best insight into their character and personality. Fosterers also help these dogs understand how beautiful life can be in a home, a family environment.

I can confidently say that none of these dogs, found as strays or in pounds have ever been in a home before.

Just for a moment put yourself in the place of one of our rescue dogs!

Okay. All of a sudden nothing is familiar and you are probably frightened, even the abuse you had learnt to take on the chin as a way of life is gone! You suddenly understand nothing. But now you need to learn and familiarise yourself with new noises, and new smells, new routines, in fact new everything. Oh! and they are talking in some strange new language you do not understand!

It is totally overwhelming.

Not so silly anymore?

With your help, it is our aim to provide Arturo, Bebe’, Dante, Ivan and Tango the opportunity to have life without fear, starvation and full of love. To do this we need help with funds. Transport alone costs around  £500 for each dog in addition to vet bills and documentation which accounts for at least another  £500. So the minimum to provide the opportunity of a forever home for these beautiful dogs is  £1000!

In addition, we occasionally need to pay kennels too to make sure they are safe when other options cannot be found.

Adoption fees only cover part of these costs.

We need help to find foster and ultimately forever homes for them. So far Tango only has an offer… please come forward.

We cannot bear the thought of having to leave these dogs in Italy throughout a hot summer. Every hot summer means a high risk of diseases…

For some, like Ivan, it will be the third summer at the rescue centre…!

Spread the word, donate, get people to donate! We keep saying every little helps and believe me it does. With over 3500 Facebook members on this Group, just £1 from everyone, £1 would raise an incredible £3500!

Please donate to help our long-term fosters

Hi! My name is Chiara Carella and I am the founder of SOS Italian Setters. My dream is to be able to get all our dogs into their ‘Forever Homes’ in Britain; however, whilst we search for these permanent homes my aim is to get them into foster homes in the UK.

The vet bills in Italy is prohibitive so when they travel we always take out pet insurance, obviously there are some pre-existing conditions which are not covered by insurance and remain funded by SOS Italian Setters – that is why your donation is so important. Your donation whether small or large really makes a difference.

We currently needed urgent funding for Luna a lovely little girl continues who is fighting cancer. She is an amazing lass who continues to enjoy life to the full. This is what her foster parents reported yesterday: “She wants to be with the others and in the same room as us again. She enjoyed her walk. We dropped her lead and let her wander – she just trots along with the group – she really enjoyed it. She has eaten her chicken tonight.”

Yesterday she was bleeding a little more and we are checking with the vet if we need to change/up her medications.

With your continued support we can care not only for Luna’s medical needs but also support the other dogs we have in foster.

Thank you!

Red & Camillo

Hello, I have been rescuing Setters of Italy for many years now. I wish I could say and feel I am making a difference in fighting the plight of the Setters in my country. Unfortunately, I continue to witness a relentless stream of poor poor doggies who are ill, very ill most of the times, treated very badly, wasted in massive pound, or killed. For each dog I rescue there are thousands more in need. It is disheartening but this should give me, us the strength to keep going as we are making a difference in the lives of those very few lucky dogs who are found and rescued. I have been ask to help these two boys, how can I say no?! They are both 6-7 years old.

RED is in Calabria and needs a CT scan to find out why he couldn’t walk from one moment to the other. He is much much better now thanks to steroids but we need to check what the problem is exactly. His CT scan will cost around EUR 600 + we need to find EUR 360 for his full blood tests.

CAMILLO is in Basilicata. His microchip had been removed. We did not know where to put this boy as all volunteers are full in the area, so he is in a dog hotel which is costing us EUR 180 per month in addition to this cost we will need to neuter him, test him, vaccinate him…

We are also looking for a foster/adoption for both dogs. We are so hoping they can be in a warm and loving home before Christmas. Please help us make this little miracle happen. Thank you!
