SOS Italian Setters is a newly established charity devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Italian Setter dogs. The charity was set up with three Trustees, but is looking to add two more, with specific expertise or even just interest in one or more areas, namely:

  • Fundraising
  • Legal

We would also be glad to have an additional trustee fluent in Italian. And an interest in rescuing and rehoming animals is of course essential!

The trustees plan to meet formally four times a year (either in person or online), but as the charity is still establishing itself, there are often group calls to discuss important issues pertaining to start-up. We have a team approach so we can develop together new ideas and share responsibilities.

The charity is based in the UK, with dogs being rescued from Italy and transported to foster and adoptive homes in this country.

As a trustee you can help make decisions that make an impact in saving animals and finding them their forever home in the UK.

If you would like to learn more or to apply, please contact:

SOSItalianSetters@gmail.com, attaching a letter with your interest, relevant background and experience. You do not need to have been a trustee of a charity before. This is a voluntary position.

Trustees Duties at a Glance

Trustees are the people who lead the charity and decide how it is run. Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact on people’s lives. A Trustee has six main duties:

  • Ensure your charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
  • Comply with your charity’s governing document and the law
  • Act in your charity’s best interests
  • Manage your charity’s resources responsibly
  • Act with reasonable care and skill
  • Ensure your charity is accountable
