His story so far.

Update Sunday 15 June. Our precious Oliver, the Setter who was a stray for over a year, was seen by a vet this week for a check up and full blood tests. He is still completely and totally terrified by people, men in particular. The vet was only able to see him in the car as Oliver was really distressed. When I think of it, it makes me furious. What do some awful people do to these poor, defenceless dogs???

After many months of living as a stray, completely terrified by us humans, Oliver is now safe in the care of SOS Italian Setters! This was only possible thanks to a wonderful lady in the village who tried everything she could to gain his trust…

I cannot tell you how many times during these months we feared for his life. He is now at a dog hotel and will soon be seen by a vet for all his blood tests. But to have a really successful outcome we urgently require your donations to pay for medical fees and his accommodation. Please do not abandon us. Many of you are donating and some also regularly directly to our bank account, and I am so grateful. But I cannot hide the fact that we struggle every day. I cannot say “no” when there is a dog in urgent need.

Not all heroes wear capes!

Oliver is in the photo with Giuseppina Papagni (Fenice’s adopter – remember her!) who helped us take him to safety. Thank you to Francesca Loria, Luana Passerini, Egle Procopio, who contributed to the best outcome for the dog. Oliver is safe 🧡

Thanks very much for your kind donations to support Oliver. We need more to be able to pay for the dog hotel where he is now. We arrange for his full blood tests to be done which will cost EUR 300, and that is probably just the beginning.

PLEASE FIND OUT HOW TO DONATE HERE – every little really does help!

Please help us help him. And if you can watch the video of when he was a stray, that is worth it I think. It’s a small window on the world of these poor dogs before they are rescued. I could see immediately why my own dogs hate the rain so much… 🥹
