Please view the video of Alma at the bottom of this page!

Alma was discovered with a fractured leg in a remote area. Although she is a Spaniel rather than a Setter, SOS Italian Setters responded to her urgent need for assistance. Her leg was also severely infected.

Blood tests were conducted to assess coagulation prior to performing a biopsy and CT scan. We remain hopeful regarding her prognosis, particularly concerning the mass near her spleen identified via ultrasound.

Our veterinary professionals suspect that Alma sustained her injuries following a vehicular accident, resulting in both the fracture and a haematoma that formed the mass; further examination will clarify its nature. At present, it is uncertain whether her leg can be preserved, but all possible interventions are being pursued, including thrice-weekly laser therapy to accelerate healing.

She has tested negative for leishmaniasis and is currently residing at the shelter, where she interacts positively with other dogs.

As a charity we provide full support throughout the life of any of our dogs and are no further than an email or telephone call away!

We hope you been inspired to offer Alma her forever home.
