Tango is now in the UK with a wonderful foster family where he has been learning that each new day is not filled with fear, starvation and brutality. However, he still urgently needs a family who will become his forever home. Are you it? Contact us now!

Update 23 May 2024

Tango is now 1 years old having just celebrated his first birthday whilst enjoying life with his foster family. It is hard to understand why this wonderful and stunning young lad is still looking for his forever home.

Update 16 May 2024

Tango continues to grow in confidence and is progressing really well with his new life in the UK. All he needs now is a permanent home where he can continue his enjoyment of freedom.

Foster mum Tricia says “Tango is having a lovely holiday in mid Wales and relaxing by the minute. Climbing the mountains and swimming. Everyday he grows more trusting and his recall improves. No house training accidents at all these days. He likes having all these other dogs to play with too and amused us play bowing to the cat who was not impressed.”

Update 07 May 2024

Tango continues to do really well and is settling very well into family life. He is off the lead now and follows his friend Gin wherever he goes. As would be expected from a doggie that has never lived inside a home before there have inevitably been the occasional accident, but even these are becoming less. He loves the fact that with the good weather the back door of the house can be open, something which has helped greatly with toilet training. Very often we find that at first it is the new parents who miss the signs of them asking to go out because they are made so subtly. He is still easily startled but better than he was and every day he is becoming more affectionate as trust grows. He has lost a bit of weight (fat) as it is thought he was not getting much exercise when with the hunter who kept him locked up, but now he is becoming fitter and more muscular.

He has learnt to ‘sit’. He comes and sits when called and waits for a treat. He is even much calmer with cats now he has got to know them.

Tango is now ready to graduate to his forever home family. So please come forward and give this lovely lad a place he can call ‘Home’ forever.

Update 24 April 2024

Tango has been with his foster family for a while now so we thought it would be a good idea to update on how he is settling into his life with a family. It is clear that he still carries the memory of the trauma he suffered prior to coming into rescue.

Although, improving with each day he is still quite easily ‘spooked’, the fosterers believe there is no more to this than a little fear and probably relates to the colour yellow. It is not uncommon for rescues to associate a trigger i.e. colour, noise etc., with a past traumatic experience. Following these very occasional episodes he then follows the fosterers around trying to say ‘sorry’ and looking for a reassuring cuddle. His insecurity shows when he goes to bed at night as he always takes a shirt belonging to one of his foster parents (he stole 🙂) to his basket to cuddle up to.

He is great with the other 3 dogs with whom he shares the foster home. His favourite friend is Gin who he loves playing with, but recently he has started inviting Megan and Luka, the other two doggies, to join in their games which is excellent news and proof he is gaining in confidence.

Above all else what Tango really needs now is to go to a forever home where there is another doggie playmate. Tango just loves cuddles and rolls over to have his tummy rubbed whenever there is someone willing to do it. He is very nearly housetrained which is amazing and just goes to show how quickly he has adapted to life inside a real loving home.

Our wonderful fosterers believe that Tango is now ready to move into his forever home where he can both love and be loved without fear of brutality. We are looking for a very special home without young children and who have a companion waiting to form a friendship with the wonderful Tango.

Tango’s 1st birthday is next month (May). What a wonderful birthday present it would be to say “Here is your forever home!”

Tango’s story prior to coming to the UK

Tango is not even one year old and the only place he knows is the grim enclosure where his hunter owner keeps him but who doesn’t want him anymore.

We urgently need to bring him into rescue, but to enable us to do this we need a family who are ready to adopt this lovely lad and end his daily misery.

Tango is a very good and calm dog considering he is still a puppy; however, whoever is lucky enough to adopt him must be prepared to train him.

He has not been inside a house before, so he is not house trained, but what puppy is! Speaking from experience of our rescue Saffi who has been with us 4 years now and was just 4 months when she arrived it did not take long. Hers was a similar story insofar she lived in a pound and had never seen a house until she arrived home with us. Basically, do not feel put off, we are here to help you and are never further that a phone call away.

The photos were taken outside his enclosure by a volunteer.

No health history at the moment. As with all SOS Italian Setters rescues this will be completed prior to travel.

We need an offer of foster or adoption to be able to free him and transfer him to a rescue centre. Rescue places are bursting at the seams and will agree only to accept extra dogs if they are able to travel within a month or so.
