Filippa is 5-year-old.

She was found with a rope around her neck, with both her neck and head carefully shaved. Her tails is brownish yellow from filth which means that she was kept is a very small space and laying in her own excrement. Obviously very thin. Despite everything she is not afraid of people, she is good with other dogs, and she is much calmer than most.

Filippa had one offer for a home but that vanished when the blood tests came back showing a low positivity to leishmaniasis. Her Leish is not active, she will need to take tablets and be retested in three months. She will need to be monitored and tested regularly for the remainder of her life but she deserves a wonderful home as she is one of the most adorable dogs we have rescued. Those of us who have rescue dogs with Leish we can vouch for the fact that it is does not affect their enjoyment of life and the only way a person, and yes it does affect humans, can catch it is by being bitten by an infected Sandfly. More information on Leish can be found on our Health page.

She is now enjoying the sunshine at the shelter as she had to stay behind but of course it’s not the same as being at home.
